The discovery of New Zealand Captain James Cook – Great Britain – The wind blew shrill and smart, And the wind awoke my heart Again to go a-sailing o’er the sea, To hear the cordage moan And the straining timbers groan, And to see the flying pennon lie a-lee. By he had been promoted to first lieutenant, and was given command of the bark Endeavour, a well constructed ship of tons. In this same year, Cook received instructions to set sail for the Pacific in order to study the passage of the planet Venus across the disc of the sun. This was predicted to take place on 3rd June , an event which would not take place again for another years. The second set of instructions concerning this voyage were secret. After the observation of Venus, Cook was to search for the mysterious and elusive “southern continent” – Terra Australis incognita. On 26th August , the Endeavour set sail from Plymouth, stocked with 18 months supplies, and with 94 men aboard. On 13th April the Endeavour laid anchor in Tahiti, where the the passage of Venus was duly observed, in perfect conditions. Friendly relations were established with the Tahitians. A Tahitian chief named Tupaia, who spoke some english and who wanted to travel, joined the Endeavour with his boy servant when the ship left Tahiti for New Zealand, and the search for the southern continent.

Early Career Researcher Awardees: Her research has been published in international science journals and is regarded as leading edge. Her strong international reputation is reflected in regular invitations to speak at international conferences and contributions to book chapters. He gained his PhD in materials science and nanotechnology from the University of Auckland in and has shown a flair for setting up innovative scientific projects with industry partners and end-users.
He leads several applied research projects and mentors students and young scientists at GNS Science. His teams research and develop surface coatings, sensors, and surface modifications. A good deal of the work is accomplished at the nano-scale. For instance, some of the new-age surface coatings are times thinner than a human hair. The result of these novel enhancements are properties such as ultra-smoothness, improved electrical conductivity, greater corrosion resistance, super hardness, and greater wear resistance.
Applications include industries such as medicine, agriculture, manufacturing, energy production, transport, and construction. He has been effective in opening up new external networks and developing new industry linkages. Kim formed effective working relationships with the oil and gas industry, Department of Conservation and Ministry for Primary Industries as well as the leading cetacean research groups in New Zealand.

At the prestructural level of understanding, the task is inappropriately attacked, and the student has missed the point or needs help to start. The next two levels, unistructural and multistructural are associated with bringing in information surface understanding. At the unistructural level, one aspect of the task is picked up, and student understanding is disconnected and limited. The jump to the multistructural level is quantitative.
At the multistuctural level, several aspects of the task are known but their relationships to each other and the whole are missed. The progression to relational and extended abstract outcomes is qualitative.

Maori Society In Polynesian mythology, people, the elements and every aspect of nature are descended from the one primal pair, the Sky Father and the Earth Mother. It was for this reason that the ancient Maori identified themselves so closely with nature. Before felling a tree so slaying a child of Tane Mahuta, god of the forest they would placate the spirits. Searching for food they would not speak of their purpose for fear that the prey might hear and make good its escape.
At last, in the void of empty space, a glow appeared, the moon and the sun sprang forth and the heavens were made light. Then did Rangi the Sky Father live with Papa the Earth Mother , but as the two clung together their offspring lived in darkness. The Sky lay upon the Earth, and light had not yet come between them.
Their children were vexed that they could not see, and argued among themselves as to how night and day might be made manifest. The fierce Tumatauenga god of war urged that they kill their parents, but Tane Mahuta god of the forests counselled that they separate their father Rangi from their mother Papa and in that way achieve their object. Tane’s wisdom prevailed, and in turn each of the children struggled mightily to prise the Sky from the Earth.

The history of New Zealand dates back at least years to when it was discovered and settled by Polynesians, who developed a distinct Māori culture centred on kinship links and land. Creating a bit of pressure on that sort of surface was the key. Boult led from the front. I think the bowling was huge for us.
Of course I also used to flog them in the stream mouths of the Western Bays, Lake Taupo and other areas too with great success. As time went by and my skill level became higher I moved away from fishing streamers and used a lot more nymph and dry fly technique which I tend to enjoy the more on our crystal clear rivers down in the South Island and the streamers went by the wayside and until a few years ago this remained the case. On one particular day I was guiding a longtime client of mine who had already landed 2 fish just over 10lbs in size on a standard nymph approach and had lost another couple of large trout.

This suggests an informal script by someone who was perhaps not as well-trained in formal writing as the original scribe. Spelling i — j When a j is stylistically long, it has been modified to an i. Affrica or Issabella Numbers The commentary contains a mix of number formats. At a later stage, a scribal hand — labelled in this edition the Roman Numerals Scribe — translated much of the original Indo-Arabic notation into Roman numerals. These translated numerals were usually placed in the margins of the Roll but are also sometimes provided as an interlinear gloss within the commentary.
On rare occasions a gloss was, for unknown reasons, also provided by the original Lancastrian Scribe. M et The scribal hand is indicated either when it differs from the hand responsible for the rest of a passage or where a later modification has been made. Equustek , began when British Columbia-based Equustek Solutions accused Morgan Jack and others, known as the Datalink defendants, of selling counterfeit Equustek routers online. The defendants never appeared in court to challenge the claim, allowing default judgment against them, which meant Equustek effectively won without the court ever considering whether the claim was valid.
But Equustek wanted more, and the British Columbia Supreme Court ruled that Google had to delete the entire domain from its search results, including from all other domains such Google.
